Abstract

To adjust the height position of hospital bed, generally a height control mechanism is connected to the actuator to produce thrust / torque. These actuators consist of various types including manual, electric, hydraulic or spring-gas actuators. The choice of actuator type depends on the choice of the consumer associated with the need for use and the price that can be paid. To meet the demand for a variety of types of hospital beds, is modelling mechanism for adjust the hospital bed height position  and actuators selection according to the requirements of safety standards. In this research, the mechanism for adjustment bed height position used the basic form of 4-bar linkage kinematics mechanism.  Motion of the bed and the size of the actuator force to overcome the patient's load is simulated by a computer simulation application program build using the matlab software. The application is design in the form of a dashboard that is equipped with a simulation menu of movements and load, so that the height control motion of the bed starts from the lowest to the highest position can be simulated. In addition, at each increase in the position of the bed against the load of the patient can also be simulated the thrust force of the actuator. By using position control mechanism modeling and simulation dashboards, the parameters of the bed mechanism can be set which can meet the design criteria.
