Abstract

Extrusion lamination is a process of plastic coating on a plastic film packaging materials. In the process there is waste trime edge which is currently not used as the material extrusion process, but have their recycle machines at PT. XYZ. The high price competition and quality of the plastic packaging products are required to be produced has a relatively competitive price and quality according customer requirements. In the plastic packaging extrusion coating process in PT. XYZ are trime edge (waste) with a large enough quantity, reaching 300-400 kg everyday. Trim edge made from polymer with polipropylene types that can be recycled into the recycle resin. During this resin recycle only sold at very low prices and not be used as a raw material in the coating process of plastic packaging in the extrusion lamination process. While the resin material used everyday reached 6,500 kg - 7,500 kg each the machine. On the basis of the need for a breakthrough utilization of recycled resin to reduce material costs.

With the experimental design and Taguchi, obtained the best composition for resin material utilization of recycled resin trim edge is made of 90% pure resin polipropylene, 6% resin master batch and 4% recycle resin. The combination of the results of experiments obtained at 290ºC temperature that best to standard requirements. The use of the recycle resin can reduce their costs of raw materials master batch resin material for trim edge can be recycled and the price is very cheap. From the analysis and calculation of utilization of 4% resin recycle as much as 302 kg everyday with efficiency value of Rp. 13,253,474.00 / day so that cost reduction is obtained within one year of Rp. 4,837,518,010.00. From the test results obtained by the use of 4% recycle resin and a temperature of 290 bonding strength produce 68.333 kgf, seal strength 458.3 kgf, optical density of 73.75 and hot tack 3.67 mm.
