Abstract

To get a radiator capable of maintaining the working conditions of the vehicle optimally under certain conditions required design optimization and dimensions, to refine the radiator that has been used on the vehicle now needs to consider several factors such as design and dimensions.

This radiator design optimization is intended to obtain optimum design with a cooling capacity that can be faster than standard radiators without overriding safety aspects.

The first step that needs to be analyzed is the dimension and geometry design of the Radiator, the dimensional changes made to the standard radiator parts such as the upper and lower reservoir, the width of the cross section or the fin, the number of holes, the diameter of the hole, the case. The geometry changes are done by changing the shape of the Radiator geometry.

Optimization of the design is carried out by recording all the standard radiator data and then redesigning the radiator by changing its dimensions in accordance with the remaining space on the front of the vehicle. As for the material used aluminum is known to have tensile strength, elasticity, shear strength, stiffness, anti-rust, heat resistance, capable of releasing heat quickly and have heat treatment properties.

Optimized radiators can work optimally to keep the engine at its working temperature even in extreme conditions, by changing the standard design of radiator dimensions, the cooling capacity of the engine becomes faster due to the wider sections and fins on the radiator with more cooling water capacity.
