Abstract

The use of LPG as vehicle’s fuel is less popular in society than the usage of gasoline and diesel fuel. It is because the price of the gas converter is still expensive and the rarity of petrol station that provide the gas fuel filling. LPG as fuel is environmentally friendlier and is one of a good energy alternative solution for vehicle, regarding the decreasing of world’s petroleum spare, while the amount of gas fuel are still abundant.

The research is a descriptive experimental which is done by testing the use of LPG converter on vehicle; motorbike, 4 steps, 1 cylinder with capacity of 125 cc. The setting of LPG flowing through converter is done in the experiment, with variation of the pressure 0.1 bar, 0.2 bar, and 0.3 bar as well as the diameter of gas flowing entered the 5 mm, 6 mm, and 7 mm combustion chamber. Thus, the illustration of how big is the effect of pressure and the diameter of gas flowing in converter toward engine performance will be obtained. The engine performance investigated in the research are output capacity, the torque and the amount of gas emission of Carbon Monoxide (CO), Carbon Dioxide (CO2), and Hydrocarbon (HC).
